The prayer of Jabez is partly about being blessed in order to be a blessing to others. So we are to bless others with our abundance? God through Moses wrote in Deut. 15: 7-8: 'If there is among you a poor man of your brethern, . . ., you shall not harden your heart nor shut your hand from your poor brother, but you shall open your hand wide to him and willingly lend him sufficient for his need, whatever he needs.'
John McArthur says this was God's call to lend to the poor with no expectation of being repaid. The people are to have an attitude of warmth and generosity.

So as the ice storm hit we opened our home to wayward young couples for a few days. I hope they felt the wamth and generosity that was extended to them. Then there was a brother in need of a stove which we gave not expecting anyting in return. Then there was the help of utilities to be turned on. . . . The list could go on yet I must confess God hss blessed us beyond what we deserve to the point of abundance. So I can attest that the blessings were all mine to reach out with an open hand to others in need.
So I would encourage you to be obedient to what God calls you to do for He will lavish His riches blessings on your life.
2 Chronicles 16:9 "For the eyes of the LORD run to and fro thorughout the whole earth, to show Himself strong on behalf of those whose heart is loyal to Him."

Are you game? Go ahead and be the one whom God could say was loyal to Him. It will be the greatest joy you will ever know. Wouldn't you like to experience the joy that only God would give?
